Bailishi Large Format Tile Adhesive

Bailishi Large Format Tile Adhesive is a mortar product formulated from carefully selected premium natural inorganic mineral raw materials. It is designed for indoor installation of large-format tiles and provides strong adhesion for low-water-absorption tiles. The product is easy to apply, easy to adjust and press, and its thin-bed installation effectively reduces space loss. Green, safe, and worry-free for tile fixing.

Application Range

• Suitable for direct application on concrete, cement render, concrete slabs, rendered brickwork, and cement-based waterproofing surfaces
• For indoor wall installation of facing tiles with water absorption >0.5% and dimensions <300×600mm
• When used together with Bailishi Tile Adhesive Mate, it can be used for tiling over existing tiles

Surface Preparation

• It is strongly recommended to pre-treat the back of tiles with Bailishi Tile Back Adhesive as an interface treatment. Please refer to the Bailishi Tile Back Adhesive product instructions for applicable scope and operation methods
• All surfaces must be flat, sound, clean, free of hollows, oil, wax, release agents, and other loose materials
• Concrete surfaces must be cured for at least 28 days before tiling
• Newly rendered surfaces must be cured for at least 7 days before tiling
• Old concrete and rendered surfaces can be cleaned with industrial detergent or degreaser, then rinsed thoroughly with high-pressure water and allowed to dry for 24 hours before tiling
• Remove residues on concrete surfaces, especially release agents remaining on concrete slabs
• On highly absorbent substrates or in high-temperature, dry environments, it is best to dampen the substrate to an externally dry but internally moist condition before construction

Construction Method

• Pour the powder into clean water and mix with an electric mixer into a paste-like consistency. Always add water before adding powder
• Mixing ratio: powder : clean water = 20kg : 4.6–5.4L. If Bailishi Tile Adhesive Mate is used, the ratio is powder : clean water : DL = 20kg : 2.6L : 2.6L
• Mix thoroughly until completely free of dry powder lumps. After mixing, let it stand for about 10 minutes, then stir slightly before use to improve adhesion

It is recommended to apply with a notched trowel as follows:

• Spread the adhesive onto the working surface with a notched trowel to form uniform ridges. Do not spread more than 1m² at a time (depending on weather conditions), then press the tile into place within the open time
• The choice of notched trowel size should consider the flatness of the working surface, the tile size, and the concavity/convexity of the tile back
• If the tile back has deep grooves, or for large, heavy natural stone/tiles, apply adhesive to both surfaces (double-buttering) by coating both the working surface and the tile back

Reference Dosage

• Construction temperature should be 5°C to 35°C
• Do not add sand, cement, or other additives during mixing
• Never add water to already set mortar and reuse it
• Use the mixed mortar within 30 minutes to prevent loss of workability

Precautions

• Use the product by adding water according to the recommended ratio only. Do not add other materials
• Natural minerals are used as raw materials; color differences between batches are normal and do not affect normal use
• Construction temperature: 5–35°C. Water-to-powder ratio may be adjusted appropriately depending on substrate, weather, and construction conditions
• When working in rainy weather, ensure adequate protection and keep the work area free from rain exposure for 24 hours after tiling
• Mortar should be used within 2 hours depending on weather conditions
• Never mix water into already set mortar for reuse
• After tiling, wait until the adhesive has fully cured before proceeding with grouting
• Adhesive should be spread evenly and tiles fully covered. The bonding layer thickness should be approximately half the height of the notched trowel tooth pitch
• Leave a gap of ≥2mm between tiles during installation
• For wall tiling, provide temporary fixing/bracing as necessary

Storage

Store unopened products in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place. Under normal storage and transport conditions, the shelf life is 12 months.
